What do they do?

The Davenport family are new-ish to these shores (all the way from the US), but certainly not new to micro-roasting darn good coffee beans. From their aroma filled Meath roastery, Big Red and The Lovely & Talented Roast Mistress have set up a family based micro-roastery that truly came from humble beginnings and a passion for coffee... Big Red tells us his their story, "I can remember a time, way back in the days of our misspent youth—meaning before becoming coffee roasters...when...the Lovely & Talented Roast Mistress and I had €9.28 between us, an empty fridge, and about three days before the next pay check. What to do!?!" Solution: half-a-dozen eggs, a stick of butter, a jug of milk, and, of course, a bag of really good coffee! Yes, all those years ago we had a passion for coffee, it was a must have. So that’s us in a nutshell. Then along came children and responsibility and this job and that job, yet we kept dreaming about becoming coffee roasters. Then one day we woke up and decided we weren’t getting any younger and said we just had to do it. It was too strong of a desire, too big of a dream to look back on one day in the future and say...If only...Thankfully The Lovely & Talented Roast Mistress must be pretty good at her job since an awful lot of people like the way she expresses her passion for coffee! As for me, I’ve given myself the high-fallutin title of Chief Quality Control Officer. In other words I get to drink A LOT of coffee. Our son and daughter both contribute to the business. They often try to take over my job (coveting my title no doubt) and jump right in when there is labeling, grinding, bagging, delivering, blog writing, web engineering, or most anything else to do. I’d say we’re all multi-taskers which is why we need so much caffeine!"

Why do we love them?

We love their range of coffee - as they have something for everyone. From the medium strength number 3 to number 5 the 'Buzz Bomb'
