Creeny cheese is a hard sheeps cheese made by Corleggy Cheese in County Cavan. At 2 months this is a mild cheese but as it matures up to 12 months it becomes a very sharp cheese indeed. It is rare as production is limited to 4 months in the year. Of cow, sheep and goat, sheep’s milk is the richest. High butter fat and protein content makes for the rich luxurious taste. Like goat’s milk, sheep’s milk products are suitable for people with cow’s milk allergies.

At Corleggy every cheese is made by hand with production not exceeding 10 tonnes per annum between Goats, Sheep & Cows’ milk cheeses. Tom & Silke Kroppe collect all their milk from three neighbouring farms using just mornings milk for production.

Creeny cheese is always very slightly salty, the reason is that the sheep graze the grass to the very earth, full of salts and minerals from all the rich rain!

Such a rare cheese will surely be a great talking point for your next cheeseboard. For some tips on creating the perfect cheeseboard, check out Johnny’s top tips here!

Your Creeny will be wrapped in waxed paper, and packed for delivery in our eco-friendly Woolcool pouch, guaranteeing a constant temperature for up to 72 hours. The price of the Woolcool pouch is £3.95 which will be added at checkout. Please select a delivery day Wednesday-Friday as we prefer not to ship chilled orders after Wednesday (Mainland UK) or Thursday (NI/ROI) as delays will mean the goods will sit in the couriers warehouse over the weekend and probably spoil.
