Since its inception, Armagh’s Irish Black Butter has gone from strength to strength and it is easy to see why. This delicious preserve won a triple gold start in the Great Taste Awards in 2019 and has rose to popularity all over Ireland.
Irish Black Butter is not butter at all – in fact, there is no dairy in it at all! It is actually a preserve made from Armagh Bramley Apples and cider and sugar, so in that sense it is closer to a chutney than a butter.
The uses are endless. Irish Black Butter makes for a beautiful accompaniment to your next cheese board and goes particularly well with a strong cheddar like Coolattin. Since this is primarily an apple based product, it goes brilliantly with pork. We love to use it to glaze a ham or pork chop…yum!
