FAQ’s – The Celebration Cheese Cake Edition

How Much Cheese Do I Need?

We generally recommend between 60g and 100g per person. It entirely depends on what part of the meal your cheese is to play. If it’s a cheese course at the end of your meal for instance – 60g per person may be enough. But if you are intending to serve your cheese as a big feature of your evening feast or sharing tables you will need slightly more. Remember the cheese will keep well beyond the wedding day if you keep some uncut, so left overs provide future snacks!

What Does It Look Like When It Arrives?

The cheese is supplied to you as stunningly textured whole rounds. Ready for stacking and decorating on location. The examples you see on our website have been decorated by a fabulous florist. And your wedding florist will also offer this service – this means you can match you cheese to the other elements of your big day!

We also offer a delivery on day, build and decor service to weddings within 20 miles of our Comber store. We dress the cake with season greenery – which may include white flowers, and fruit. Depending on the time of year and availability. Some of the cakes we have decorated are included in the gallery below – and we can provide more examples on request.

How do I know I will like the cheeses?

We recommend visiting one of our stores closest to you or having a cheese tasting selection shipped safely to your door. Each tasting selection corresponds with one of our most popular cakes and can be ordered here.

What About The Crackers and Chutney?

We have a fabulous range of locally produced crackers and oatcakes that will make the perfect accompany your celebration cheesecake. We can also provide a range of artisan chutneys to complement to cheeses.

What do I serve with the cheese?

Whatever you like most. It’s important you have something you are going to love! We offer a range of crackers and accompaniments from single jars to catering packages depending on the size of your party. They can all be viewed alongside our wedding cheese makers here.

Who should decorate the cake?

We recommend your florist has the honour. As they will be able to dress the cake to perfectly match your big day. However we have seen some beautiful celebration cheese cakes put together by friends and family – so this can be a good option too.

Laura has been fine tuning her celebration cheese cake decorating skills, so we can offer this service for our more local weddings. Ideally within 20miles of our Comber store, however we can occasionally offer this service further afield.

Can you deliver to any address?

We ship to anywhere on the Island of Ireland or Mainland UK. We use DPD for overnight delivery in Ireland. And a two day service for mainland UK deliveries. Please ensure that the delivery address you give is one where there is someone to accept day-time deliveries.

Delivery further afield is available on a case to case basis. We have been experiencing some delays with European delivery – but can often find a way to look after you. Please do get in touch.

When should I order my cake?

Ideally at least a month before your date – but we can often accommodate short notice. However this may mean your options are reduced. If you have a short deadline, give us a call.

What should we do with the cheese once we have received it?

Cheese should be unpacked and stored in a cool place, ideally around 5 degrees. And taken out at least an hour before serving. This means it can settle to room temperature – and it’s most tasty!

What do people present them on?

We’ve seen them on everything to tree trunks, to cake stands and vintage furniture. It really is entirely up to you. However we really love a personalised cheese board from our friends at The Dribbly Yak.
