Easter in NI – 8 Joyous and Local Things to do

Easter Sunday falls on the 17th April this year, and with things being a bit more open this year than the past two years, there’s plenty to do around Northern Ireland at this festive time.

Easter Sunday Five Course Carvery at La Mon Hotel & Country Club, Comber

Of course, we’d start with something food based! La Mon are serving up a five-course carvery lunch in The Mill Restaurant where you’ll have a spread of locally produced roasts and vegetables. All the family are welcome with face-painting and a bouncy castle to keep the little ones entertained.

Easter SUP with SUPhubNI, Ballyholme Beach

This event is open to everyone who is game, you do not need experience! This is not your typical egg hunt either. The SUPhubNI team will take you around Ballyholme Beach to search for some very special eggs- each one has been designed by a local artist and may even have prizes from local businesses. Don’t worry, the eggs are all non-plastic and sustainably produced. Up the fun and arrive in fancy dress!

Easter Egg Making Class and Chocolate Tasing Experience with North Coast Chocolates, Bushmills

An award-winning chocolatier that’s worked for royalty, Ruaraidh Bailey, brings you this Easter egg making class and chocolate tasting experience at The Designerie in Bushmills. You will literally create your own design in a mould to fashion a very unique Easter egg indeed. Give as a gift, or devour entirely yourself, either way, it’s pretty special.

Kids Easter Cake Bakery Class at Forestside Cookery School, Belfast

Join your kid in a bakery class at Forestside, I suspect it won’t just be the kids learning some new skills! Acquire the knowledge to make the perfect sponge and silky Easter Egg buttercream. Then practice the art of piping and how to garnish with beautiful edible flowers.

Easter Clay Creations, Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart

Head on up to Portstewart’s Flowerfield Arts Centre and mould your own Easter-themed clay bowl to keep Easter goodies in. You’ll get the chance to learn a host of clay techniques specially for beginners. It’s recommended that you come prepared to get dirty but the air dry clay does wash off easily- you could always jump in the sea after the class to get cleaned up!

Easter Egg Hunt on the Ormeau Road, Belfast

Happening right around our Cheese Edition store on the Ormeau Road, join in on this free event. You won’t just be walking around keeping an eye out for eggs- pop down to St.Jude’s Church on the day (no need to book) to collect a clue sheet. Solve the riddles to find the eggs and you’ll be in for a prize! Of course, while you’re out searching, you could drop in to us for a refreshment!

Easter Egg Hunt at Jungle NI, Magherafelt

Lots of egg-hunting is going on around our wee country, each bring their own fun in different ways though. Jungle NI bring you a hunt in nature. You must scour the forest using your keen eyes and sharp smarts to solve the clues given so you can uncover the Easter Eggs. Once satisfied with your problem-solving skills you can also head to the Woodland Petting Farm to see the lambs, piglets and chicks. Perhaps most fun of all is the offering of hot food and drink provided so you leave content in your mind, body and soul.

Easter Duck Trail at WWT Castle Espie, Comber

Around the corner from our Indie Füde HQ in Comber is the beautiful bird-filled Castle Espie. This is another great way to get the family outdoors this Easter to not only have fun but to take in some nature at the wetlands and learn about the wonderful wildlife. This time, you’re on the search for yellow rubber duckies. No booking is required, but when you arrive, you will have to crack a series of clues to find the ducks on the trail!
